The New York Times, July 10, 1977 – Front Page – Alice Paul passes away. In addition to fighting for the Federal Woman’s Suffrage Amendment, she drafted and fought for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). At the time of her death, thirty-five of the needed thirty-eight states have ratified the ERA, and it appears likely it will become part of the Constitution. However, after her death, no additional states ratify the Amendment. read clipping
